Ethics & Governance – Week 1 (sample)

The focus of Week 1 will be Module 1, and an introduction to Module 2.

Module 1 considers the role of the professional accountant in the contemporary business environment. We will consider the nature, attributes and regulation of professions, and the importance of the accounting profession ensuring it has the confidence and trust of the society in which it operates.

Module 2 explores the concepts of ethics and the importance of ethical decision making in the professional and business context. We will consider ethical theories that can be used by accountants when resolving complex ethical dilemmas in the workplace.
